Leona Fay Wilson, of Waco, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco, on Friday, December 31, 2010, at age 93. Mrs. Wilson will be buried privately (family only) at Cobb Cemetery on Monday, January 3, 2011. Leona was born on April 11, 1917 to Samuel and Alma Webb at Thornton. She grew up near Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School. As a young lady, she was united in marriage with Reuben Ray Wilson. They lived and farmed at Ben Hur for a short time, until he went to work at Refugio. They then lived and raised their family in South Texas towns, until moving back to Groesbeck around 1956. Leona obtained her LVN license from Lee Junior College in Baytown when she was 40 and began a nursing career. She nursed at Providence and Hillcrest hospitals and then as a private duty nurse. She especially enjoyed working with the elderly patients in nursing homes. Leona loved to garden and had a green thumb. She could raise anything, flowers and vegetables, and raised bluebonnets in her front yard. She always kept busy, preferring digging in the dirt to shopping or going anywhere. But she also loved to talk and visit. She was a member of the Methodist church. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reuben Wilson; sister, Cecil Ramsey; two brothers, Ludie Webb and Luther Webb; sons, John Reuben Wilson who passed away in 2008 (and his twin, Samuel who died at birth.) She is survived by five generations, which includes her daughter, Martha Willis of Seal; six grandchildren, which are granddaughter, Raylin and husband Jimbo Anderson of Sante Fe, TX; granddaughter, Sharon and husband Gerald Hadley of Sante Fe, TX; grandson, Ronny Willis of Seal; granddaughter, Penny Garcia of Texas City; grandson, Jimmy Wilson of Texas City; and granddaughter, Dana Worley of Texas City; ten great grandchildren, including Courtney Anderson and Christy Anderson of Sante Fe, Bridgette Hadley and Kayleen Hadley of Sante Fe, Little Ronny Willis and Megan Willis of Texas City; and other great-great grandchildren.
