Zora Jo “Jodie” Hulse, of Thornton, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010, at her residence, following a lengthy battle with cancer, at age 73. The family will hld a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. on SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 2011, at the Church on the Rock in Groesbeck. “Jodie” was born on April 7, 1937, to Frank Shoffield and Julia Gray Hammond at Quinlan. She was first married to Ardith Herring, and later in 1986, was married to her second husband, Thomas Hulse, both of whom preceded her in death. She had previously lived in Thornton, and worked for approximately fifteen years as a medical aid at the Mexia State School, until moving to Galveston. She moved back to Thornton twelve years ago, where she resided near her daughter the rest of her life. The thing Jodie especially enjoyed her last days were Joanna’s chocolate pies which she cooked everyday for her. Jodie loved her children and grandchildren, and loved the Lord. She was a member of the Church on the Rock in Groesbeck, and was baptized there two weeks prior to her death. Mrs. Hulse was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ardith Herring; and her second husband, Thomas Hulse; and a daughter, Holly Kovich. She is survived by her daughter, JoAnna King and husband Jack of Thornton; son, Ardith “Butch” Herring of Thornton; son-in-law, Mark Kovich of Sante Fe, TX; son, Keith Herring and wife Vanessa of Prescott, AZ; daughter, Linda Kucara and husband Jerry of Seabrook; eleven grandchildren, Kaci Kovich, Jeremy Herring and wife Ashley, Mark Kovich, Jr., Haley Ellison and husband James, Joshua Herring, Zachary Preston King, Misty Shaw, Shane Herring, Eric Camacho, Heather Rowe, and Cher Miranda; eleven great grandchildren, Braydin McLean, Layne Herring, Raegan Ellison, Kyndel Herring, Kyle Ellison, Cameron Ellison, Tanner Ellison, Jayde Herring, Erica Camacho, Mia Miranda, and Taylor Miranda; one sister, Judy Young and her husband Mike of Stephenville; several nieces and nephews; and cousins and other extended family; and friends.
