Gladys Inez (Jones) Neyland, of Seale, passed away at the St. Catherine Center in Waco, on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at age 96. Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Johnny Layton of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church and Brother Richard Williams of the Groesbeck Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Turner, Marvin Buchanan, G. R. Jones, John Reagan, John Baldwin, and Mike Coker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Mahoney, Ray Sanders, Baylor Carrington, Joe Sadler, Fred Reagan, Abe Seale, Alford McCurry, J. W. Shields, and Gary Reagan. Gladys was born September 25, 1914 to George Jones and Hattie Roberta Brooks Jones at Honest Ridge in Limestone County. She grew up in Robertson County, and attended school at Marquez. Gladys was united in marriage with D.D. “Bub” Neyland on January 10, 1935, at Marquez. They lived at Seale - Round Prairie where they farmed and ranched all their lives. Miss Gladys was a historian of the community, and had such a good memory of the past, that many people consulted her for information on the community and its residents. She loved talking to people and had a lot of humor. She was a wonderful cook and especially loved having family meals together, and invited anyone else who came by to stay and eat. She was a hard working woman. She liked gardening and raising flowers was her passion. Miss Gladys was a member of the Oletha Baptist Church and was very involved in all church activities as long as she was able. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her “Dah”, and they loved her dearly. Miss Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, D.D. “Bub” Neyland (in 1988); six brothers and sisters, and grandson-in-law, Randy Mitchell (in 2010). She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Colin and Norene Neyland of Cole Branch, and Ken and Delores Neyland of Seale; grandson, Todd Neyland and wife Julie of Seale, grandson, Wade Neyland and wife Jennifer of Cole Branch, and granddaughter, Kelly Mitchell of Boone Prairie; and great grandchildren, Drew and Will Neyland of Seale, Lacy, Janie, and Pate Neyland of Cole Branch, and Garrett and Tyler Mitchell of Boone Prairie; two sisters, Vida Hogan of Thornton, and Helen Jenkins of Groesbeck, and many nieces and nephews.
