Ralph Dale Sowders, of Groesbeck, went to be with his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, while a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Temple. He was 84. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Eutaw Cemetery, outside Kosse, TX. Ralph was born December 7, 1926, to James and Myrtle Sowders at Kosse. He grew up and attended school at Kosse. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1945 and served in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He entered Texas A&M and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, Class of 1952. He worked the bulk of his career in the petrochemical industry as an engineer, in the Houston area. In midlife, he became an active Christian in the Lakewood Church in Houston. Around 1993, Ralph moved to Groesbeck. He stayed active as a consultant in Limestone County until his death. He was a member of the Family Life Center of Groesbeck. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and James DuBose of Austin; granddaughter, Chelsea DuBose and grandson, Christopher DuBose of Austin; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Carl McElroy; two nieces; and numerous cousins.
