H. L. "Booter" Rasco

H. L. “Booter” Rasco, of Groesbeck, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, with his family by his side, at Providence Hospital in Waco. He was 77. Services for Mr. Rasco will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tod Tanner of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Parker Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Marcus Ray Hanna, Dale Wilson, Bobby Wilson, Larry Black, John Wisdom, and Rodney Willett. Booter was born February 12, 1934 in Heads Prairie, Texas, and attended school in Kosse, where he excelled in sports. In 1996, he retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after 42 years of service. In retirement, Booter enjoyed family, Hank Williams music, and spending time with his Groesbeck “lunch bunch.” He was also an avid car enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Faye Kidd Rasco, brothers, Will, Ray, Carl, and Joe, and sister, Bobbie Parr. Booter is survived by his wife, Terry Lee Rasco; his son, James Lee Rasco and wife Sherri; his daughter, Joy Beth Jackson and husband Barry; his grandchildren, Chelsi Rasco Coldiron and husband Jeremy, James Wesley Rasco and wife Melanie, Bryce Lee Rasco and wife Natalie, Erica Rasco Starnes and husband Jason, Meagan Jackson, and Matthew Jackson; and five great grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge appreciation to Booter’s niece, Linda Parr Mulholland and husband Jim, and his nephew, Billy Parr and wife Diane for their support and help during his illness.
