“Tooter” (Donnie Reece) Roberts, of Groesbeck, passed away at his home Monday, August 22, 2011, following a year-long battle with cancer. He was 51. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Nathaniel Bedford officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frog, Mark, Clayton, Randall, Cary, Richard, Butch, and Lee. His wife and family invite all who knew Tooter to come to the service to say good-by and celebrate his life with those who loved and cared for him. “Tooter” was born August 18, 1960, to Donnie Reece Roberts, Sr.and Rita Fern (Hudnall) Roberts in Groesbeck. He actually grew up in Houston, and then finished the last few years of school in Mexia. He worked for eighteen years for the Dallas I.S.D. After he retired from there, he moved back to Groesbeck, in the 1990's, and worked for Dr. Cary Bielamowicz at Limestone Veterinary Hospital, until his health made him unable to continue to work. Tooter married Audrey Elaine Bozeman on October 26, 2002 at Mexia, and they lived in Groesbeck. Tooter loved hunting and fishing, Harleys, and especially loved NASCAR races, from attending the races in person, to watching on TV, to talking about them. Tooter loved all of his family, and especially time spent with his wife, “Curly-Sue”, his “Knuckle-Head” daughter Hannah who still lived at home, and all of his children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other loved ones. And everybody that knew Tooter loved him. Tooter was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Roberts of Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Shelly Warner of Alvarado; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Mary Beth Roberts of College Station; son, Corey Roberts of Bridge City; daughter, Hannah Dockins of Groesbeck; step-son, Leslie Ory of Palestine; step-daughter, Crystal Bozeman Jones of Marlin; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kristy Roberts of Groesbeck; brother and sister-in-law, Greg “Frog” and Susan Roberts of Mexia; four grandchildren, John Warner, Danita Dockins, Christian Ory, and Natalie Roberts; five nieces and nephews, Traye, D.J., Emily, Lillie, and Emma; and cousins, Clayton Brown and Randall Brown (all from the Limestone County area.)
