Leon Boyd Brister, Jr. of Old Union, passed away Monday afternoon, August 29, 2011, at Limestone Medical Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, September 2, 2011, at Old Union Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Sutton officiating. Honorary pallbearers and close friends are Jimmy Lenamond, Brandon Johnson, Casey Johnson, Billy Brown, Flint McLean and Jerry Wade Gilliam. Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Brister, Sr. and Elma Lee (Ellis) Brister, and infant son, Michael Brister. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Brister of Old Union; daughter, Michelle Neff of Crosby; son, Jeffrey Brister of Seabrook; sisters, Betty Sikes, Mary Adams and Brenda Wherry; brother, Herbert Brister; several nieces and nephews; and grandchildren, Zane, Zoe, Rylan, AJ and Jonathan.
