Barbara Jean Howell

Barbara Jean Howell, of Groesbeck, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, at the Limestone Medical Center. She was 77. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Faulkenberry Cemetery, with Brother Richard Williams officiating. Barbara was born December 26, 1933, to Robert Claude Crouch and Blanche Beatrice (Massey) Crouch in Orange, Texas. The family lived in various towns while she was growing up, and she graduated from Aldine High School in Houston in 1952. Barbara married Vernon C. Howell, Jr., while he was in the Navy. The lived in Houston, where they raised their family. Mr. and Mrs. Howell moved to the Lake Limestone area in 1998, where they enjoyed fishing at the lake, after a lifetime of fishing on the Texas Coast. She was an oil painting artist for many years, and a lover of all animals, especially her various pets during her lifetime. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by a son, Richard M. Howell of Groesbeck; a son, Robert C. Howell of Spring; a daughter, Claudia J. Howell of Henderson, Nevada; and a son, John J. Howell of Henderson, Nevada; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren, plus one more expected very soon.
