Jeffrey Wilson Langley, of Groesbeck, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco, on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at age 55. Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Tod Tanner of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in LaSalle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Finley, Bob Waller, Alan Steen, Wally Amason, Murray Agnew, and Ed Crone. Honorary pallbearers will be Limestone County Law Enforcement Officers and member of the Heart of Texas Auto Theft Task Force. Family, friends, and Law Enforcement associates are invited to meet after the interment at the First Baptist Church in Groesbeck. Jeffrey was born January 4, 1956 in Houston to Hiram Wesley Langley, Sr. and Dorothy Glorine (Nolen) Langley. Jeff Langley was a sixth-generation Texan, Cowboy, and earlier in his life, he was a cattle buyer for Inglish-Hayes Cattle Company out of Houston. He served in the U. S. Marines for a number of years, and was featured on the 1976 Centennial Recruiting Poster; he served as an Honor Guard at many Marine funerals, and was on the U. S. Marine Rodeo Team, riding bulls. He later began a career in law enforcement, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, in 1998. He was a Sergeant for the Falls County Sheriff’s Department, then went to work for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department, and was an Investigator with the Heart of Texas Auto-Theft Task Force. He thoroughly enjoyed his career in law enforcement, until his early retirement in 2009 due to health problems. Jeffrey married Kimberly R. Tompkins at Groesbeck on July 24, 1997, and they made their home in Groesbeck. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Langley of Groesbeck, and a brother, Hiram Wesley “Jack” Langley, Jr. of Houston.
