Foy Buford LaGrone

January 7, 1927 — October 12, 2011

Foy Buford LaGrone, of Kosse, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at his residence. He was 84. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Kosse City Cemetery, with Reverend Terry Williams officiating. Buford was born January 7, 1927 to LeRoy and Alma LaGrone at Gilmer, where he also grew up and attended school. He had finished welding school at the time he was drafted during the last of World War II. He served in the Army Air Force from 1945 through 1947, and spent some of the time in Okinawa before he was discharged. He was married twenty-nine years to Goldie Davis and they had two sons and a daughter. Buford was a welder, primarily with Brown and Root most of his career, but also worked some off-shore. When welding was not available, he rough-necked or did whatever jobs needed to make a living. He lived most of his adult life in the Houston area. Buford was united in marriage with Irene Hernandez thirty-seven years ago, on May 29, 1974, in Fort Bend County, and her four children and his three became a family. After working numerous power plant jobs, Buford and Irene settled in the Kosse area, where he semi-retired, in 1979. All his life, he loved fishing and gardening in his spare time. Buford always worked hard to take care of his family, and was a loving family man. He was a wonderful husband, daddy and grandfather. Mr. LaGrone was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Francis “Dede” Esparza; four sisters, Ruby, Ruth, Gladys, Hulene, and one brother, Aubrey; and three grandsons, Troy Wayne Schultz, David LaGrone, Jr., and Evan Griffith. He is survived by his wife, Irene LaGrone of Kosse; sons and daughters-in-law, and daughters and sons-in-law: Michael and Nancy LaGrone of Kosse, David and Marie LaGrone of Huffman; Brenda LaGrone of Huffman; Rosemary and Robert Waller of Baytown, JoAnn Dover of North Shore, Wayne Munguia of Kosse, and Steven and Robin Koller of Belfalls. Also, there are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
