Eddie Franklin Hall, Jr., of Thornton, TX and previously of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Friday, October 28, 2011 at Providence Hospital in Waco Texas. He was 84. Funeral services will be held November 1, 2011, at 11:00am at Pinecrest Funeral Services, with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hope Mills, North Carolina, with full military honors. Mr. Hall was born February 15, 1927 in St. Paul, North Carolina. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Army, a member of 11th Airborne, 82nd Airborne also 187th Rakkasan's. He served in the 3rd Division, 7th Division and 9th Division, 17th Infantry Division in Korea. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign War and Disabled American Veterans, and belonged to Rudy Hernandez Rakkasan's Chapter 187th. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope Mills, North Carolina,with an active involvement in the Men’s class. He moved to Texas in 2010, where he bought a ranch and started a cattle operation, as part of his “bucket list” goals. He enjoyed his time on the ranch and his service for a brief time as one of the first male volunteers at the Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck. He had been a resident the past few months at Ridgecrest Retirement Center in Waco, undergoing rehab. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a son Eric Vinson Hall; brother, Terrill Hall and sister, Mederine Williams. He is survived by his wife Mabel Williams Hall of Hope Mills, NC.; son, Eddie F. Hall III of Carrollton GA.; daughter, Lisa Hall Parker and husband Kevin of Thornton, TX.; daughters, Laure Cole and Loette Mitchem both of Carrollton GA.; and step-daughter Carol Harris and husband Earl of White Oak, NC. He has two brothers Conrad Hall, and William Hall, both of Hope Mills, NC and sister, Martha Nell Horne. He also has 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. The mother of his children and lifelong special friend, Shirley.
