Joe Raye Favors, of Thornton, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 2, 2011. He was 48. Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Central Baptist Church in Thornton, with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Crowson, Michael Carter, Chris Favors, Felipe Alfaro, Ronnie Bates, and Mike German. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Favors, William Harrison and Tim Longenbaugh. Joe was born August 11, 1963, to J. C. Favors and Jo Dean (Hand) Favors, in Groesbeck, with his twin brother, John, born three minutes before him. He grew up in Thornton, and graduated from Groesbeck High School, Class of 1981. He especially enjoyed tractor mechanics in school, and continued working on old vehicles the rest of his life. Joe lived in Thornton all his life, and worked as a cowboy-ranch hand for Bob Fewell for thirty-two years. When not working, he loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed the time with his son and daughter. Joe was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Favors and son Joseph Favors of Thornton; his twin brother, John Favors and wife Carol of Groesbeck; his sister, Denise Taylor and her husband Donald Joe of Borger; his aunt and uncle, Linda and Rand Bates of Groesbeck; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
