Lloyd George Haney, of Groesbeck, passed away at his home Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the age of 73. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Lloyd was born May 18, 1938 to Leumorris and Nola May (Mason) Haney in Afton, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Muleshoe. He served two years in the U.S. Army, and after a brief time out, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served his country during the Vietnam War. Lloyd was a proud American. Upon his separation from the armed forces, he went on to commercial truck driving and traveled across the nation. He retired in 2002. Lloyd married Wilma Jean Allison on May 28, 1994 in Ore City, Texas, and they lived in the Ore City area until moving to Groesbeck in 2004. Lloyd loved music all his life, going from rock and roll to loving country music and playing the guitar. He played at many jamborees while living in East Texas. After retiring from trucking, Lloyd raised horses and broke them for riding, and also enjoyed gardening. He also loved watching sports on TV. He loved his family very much. He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers and two sisters. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jean Haney of Groesbeck; daughters, Cindy Marie Guiterrez and husband Oscar of Longview, and Rebecca Lynn Benton and husband Marty of Dew; sons, Robert Gorden Haney and wife Melody of Sanger, and Billy Joe Haney of Dew; step-sons, Bryan Keith Haney and wife Lori of Liberty City, and Raymond Mark Haney and wife Sheila of Groesbeck; daughter-in-law, Cindy Rosson and husband Steven of Bonham; sisters, Vera Blodget of Ft. Lupton, CO, Betty Richards of Portales, NM, and Fay Machen and husband Bill of Portales NM; 15 grandchildren, Felicia Mairel, McKinzie Haney, Dakota Benton, Michelle Laverral, Desiree Clarey, Megan Chambers, Stormy Suarez, Zoee Haney, Skyler Moore, Alexis Haney, Carolyn Haney, Dustin Ferrell, Emily Ferrell, Bryanna Haney and Brandi Haney; and 8 great-grandchildren.
