Jerry Harriman, of Groesbeck, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011. Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Groesbeck. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Harriman, Ricky Wills, Randy Shorter, Michael Penney, Jeff Stuver, and Dan Maples. The Deacons of the First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Jerry was born on September 4, 1936 in Donie, Texas, to William and Grace Harriman. Jerry was united in marriage to Reva Shorter on December 16, 1955 in Marlin and they made their home in Waco. Jerry retired from General Tire and Rubber Company in December 1981. After retirement, he moved to his ranch near Groesbeck to pursue his life-long dream of raising cattle and enjoying nature and the country life. He loved his family dearly, especially Reva, his wife of 56 years. Attending church and working with kids was something also very dear to his heart. Jerry was ordained as a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck in 1990, and served his church faithfully until God called him home. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Mary Wills. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Reva Harriman; sons, Gary Harriman and wife Cindy of Crawford, and Jeffrey Harriman and wife Shirley of Axtell; daughter, Lori Brown of Waco; granddaughters, Kristen Brown of Waco, Sierra Harriman of Axtell, Shelby Harriman of Axtell, and Kendra Riddle of Tulsa, OK; and grandson, Casey Riddle of Tulsa, OK; a brother and sister-in-law, Wyman and Kathryn Harriman of Waxahachie; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and George Moore of Axtell, and Colleen and Barry Blackwell of Nacogdoches; aunt, Tommye Little of Marlin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Groesbeck, or the American Heart Association.
