Rita Faye Hensley

Rita Faye Waters Hensley, of Houston, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2012 with family and friends by her side. She was 87. Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2012, from noon to 2:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M., in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tracy Sims officiating. Musical arrangement provided by soloist, Gerry Leija. Burial will follow in Fort Parker Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Carl Robinson, Cameron Robinson, Richard Maly Jr., Brent Aronson, Gerry Leija, Michael Boyd, and John Waters. Rita was born April 29, 1924, to Leroy and Mamie L. Waters in Groesbeck. She grew up there and graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1941. Rita continued her education and attended Jefferson Davis Nursing School in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1944 as a registered nurse. Rita married Jimmie Stroud Hensley on December 21, 1945 at Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. They resided in Dallas and Marshall, Texas and Brigham City, Utah, later settling in Houston, Texas. Rita retired from her 42 year nursing career in 1986. Her grandchildren, Candra and Cameron were her whole life. Rita was a member of the Sagemont Church, Houston Texas. Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jimmie Stroud in 2010; son, Steven Craig Hensley; her parents Leroy and Mamie L. Waters; brother, Gerald Waters of Houston; and sister, Marie Gallagher of Houston. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jina and Carl T. Robinson of Pasadena; granddaughter, Candra Robinson Maly and husband Richard Maly Jr. of Pearland; grandson, Cameron Robinson of Pasadena, Tx; nieces and nephews, Rita Karen Gallagher Aronson, Cheryl Boyd, Ronnie Waters, and John Waters.
