Elizabeth was born on July 18, 1939 to Francisco R. and Maria del Socorro (Lopez) Turrubiarte, at Thornton. The family moved to Groesbeck where she attended school. She was trained at Dr. Cox’s Hospital in Groesbeck in the nursing program, and worked forty-three years as a nurse, retiring in 2004. She nursed many patients in the local hospitals and both nursing homes in Groesbeck, and was loved by many families for the care she gave her patients. Elizabeth, known as Lizzie to family and as Bett to her nieces and nephews (and also called “ET” for fun), loved the family. She loved to garden and to cook, and loved having the whole family gathered at home. She spoiled the nieces and nephews cooking what she knew each one loved the best when they were there. She was the caregiver for her great nephew, Zane, raising him like a son, while he lived with her from birth until his present fifteen years. Elizabeth was a member of the Monte Carmelo Church in Groesbeck, where she taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years, and also played the piano for the church services. She played music at home, and growing up, played with many of her family members, including her father who also was a musician. She was a loving, caring person, not only in her nursing career, but to all the family, even through the last days of her illness. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Petra; a sister, Edna Cordova; brothers-in-law, Abraham Cordova, Frank Cordova, and John Liscano; and a nephew, Bobby Turrubiarte. She is survived by her son and nephew, Zane Donahue of Groesbeck; brother, Silvio Turrubiarte of Groesbeck; brother and sister-in-law, Alberto and Lucy Turrubiarte of Lewisville; sister, Olga Liscano of Groesbeck; sister, Esperanza Cordova of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Noah and Jody Turrubiarte of Krugerville; sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Juan Ramon Chapa of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Dorothy Turrubiarte of Groesbeck; sister, Mary Frances Turrubiarte of Groesbeck; sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Bud Green of Parker; sixty nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces; and many cousins.
