Misti Lynn Hildebrandt

February 2, 1983 — February 9, 2012

Misti Lynn (Garrett) Hildebrandt, of Thornton, went to her Heavenly home after a life devoted to loving and caring for others, on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at age 29. Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home, with a brief memorial service to be held at 6:00 P.M. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at the Stranger Cemetery, where Misti will be laid to rest beside her mother. Brother Jimmy Phillips will officiate at the services. Misti was born February 2, 1983 to Jerry and Janis Garrett of Stranger. Misti spent many days of her life after her birth with her Mother and the Hewitt family in the Groesbeck Flower Shop. She lost her mother, who loved her greatly, when she was 15 years old, but was loved the rest of her life by many friends and family. She graduated from Groesbeck High School, as Valedictorian of the Class of 2001. She graduated from MCC Nursing School in 2005 as a Registered Nurse, and spent her remaining life nursing at multiple hospitals in Central Texas as well as home health care. At the present, she was Director of Nurses at Centex ARC in Mexia, and also worked at Parkview Hospital in Mexia. Misti and Dave Hildebrandt were high school sweethearts and were united in marriage on March 9, 2002. Misti had a passion in life for taking care of people and animals, and a special love for her pets. Her Daschund, Blaize, is 13 and was her constant companion since a puppy. She took in all strays that crossed her path, and had beloved cats, dogs, pigs, horses and cows, and a pet deer, Bucky, that she raised on a bottle. She loved working, and always put other’s needs before her own. She had many “best friends.” Patience and selfless acts of kindness were her gifts to her family, her patients, her animals, and her many friends. She will be missed by all and irreplaceable to many. She attended the Stranger Community Church. Misti was preceded in death by her mother, Janis Garrett; her grandmother, Elnora Garrett; and Dave’s grandfather with whom she was close, D. A. Hildebrandt. She is survived by her husband, Dave Hildebrandt of Thornton; her father, Jerry Garrett of Stranger; a brother, Bo Garrett of Stranger; mother-in-law and father-in-law, J.A. and Chris Hildebrandt of Thornton; grandmother-in-law, Jewel Hildebandt of Kosse; Danny and Cindy Hewitt of Groesbeck, who loved her as their own; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends and her beloved animals.
