Richard Dee Parker, resident of Mexia and formerly of Thornton and Groesbeck, passed away late Monday night, February 27, 2012, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia, at age 65. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Cobb Cemetery. Richard was born October 13, 1946 to Joe Robert and Edwina Harriet (Kemp) Parker at Muleshoe. He grew up in Thornton, and graduated from Groesbeck High School , Class of 1965. He lived in Limestone County all his life, and worked in construction in the housing industry. He was not only a carpenter, but truly was a “jack-of-all-trades.” He was a craftsman, particularly of Indian artifacts, including knives and rain sticks. He enjoyed playing several musical instruments with his family, and he never met a stranger. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Parker. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Rebecca Parker of Stephenville; son, Daniel Joe Parker of Corsicana; daughter, Kita Parker of Mexia; son, Keno Parker of Mexia; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Cody Darby of Mexia; daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and James Yerby of Mexia; sister, Sandra Parker of Mexia; former wife and mother of Kita and Keno, Linda Sue Parker of Mexia; five granddaughters, Koda Star Parker, Addison Parker and Kayla Parker of Mexia and Misty Foster and Jamie Castaneda of Waco; multiple great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and long-time friend, Brenda Berringer of Mexia.
