Marvin Finis Beevers

October 23, 1926 — February 29, 2012

Marvin Finis Beevers, of Groesbeck, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Palestine Regional Medical Center and Rehabilitation Hospital. He was 85. Visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Lee Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamey Wright, Robert Lammert, Stephen Lammert, Joseph Lloyd, James Lloyd, and Eddie Armstrong. Marvin was born October 23, 1926 to Joseph Finis Beevers and Vessie Mae Price Beevers at Hale Center, Texas. He grew up in Sante Fe, New Mexico, and graduated from high school there in 1943. He joined the U. S. Navy, where he served during World War II, from 1943 through 1947, spending most of the time on the island of Tinian in the South Pacific. He repaired aircraft after they had damaged in battle. Marvin had grown up with a father who was a welder, so when he was discharged from the Navy, he joined the family welding business, Sante Fe Welding. He also attended Eastern New Mexico University for two years. Marvin met Eleanor Learline Armstrong in Sante Fe, and they were united in marriage in 1950 in Bernalillo, NM. They made their home in Sante Fe through 1968. Marvin and Eleanor moved to Waco, Texas where he was a welding instructor at TSTI, and also had his own welding and lawn mower repair businesses. When he retired in the 1970's, they moved to Groesbeck to be near her family, and have lived in Groesbeck for the past thirty plus years. Marvin was an avid reader, of many subjects, and very interested in American history. He loved sharing his knowledge of history with all generations of the family. He also was a stamp and coin collector. Marvin was a follower of Jesus Christ, and studied his faith through the Church of God. Mr. Beevers was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rosemary Beevers Sellers; and a grandson, Jerry Beevers. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Beevers of Groesbeck; a daughter, Marsha Lammert of Palestine; a daughter, Kimberly Haught of Palestine; a son, Wayne Beevers and wife Sherry of Farmington, NM; and a daughter, Velma Thursby and husband Jerry of Ferris. Also he has ten grandchildren and their spouses: Robert Lammert of Palestine, Stephen and J.J. Lammert of Elkhart, Kristy and Jamey Wright of Palestine, Eleanor Haught of Palestine, Shaun and Rosie Haught of Fort Stockton, Joseph and Lisa Lloyd of Los Alamos, NM, James Lloyd of Dallas, Erin Thompson of Dallas, Jason and Bobbie Beevers of Baytown, and Amber and Imants Pone of Minnesota; and thirteen great grandchildren.
