Mary (Neundorfer) Murphy, 89, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Hospice Atlanta, and went to be with her Heavenly Father and Lord. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck, with Reverend Steve Nance of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Mary was born in Groesbeck on August 16,1922 to a military family; her father was Oscar Joseph Neundorfer and her mother was Ruth Edward (Oliver) Neundorfer. Mary travelled widely in her lifetime. She was retired from Cox Enterprises, and was an active member of Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Her many interests included charities, geneology, traveling, and bridge. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Paul W. Murphy and her son, Paul W. Murphy, Jr. She is survived by a son, William Joseph Murphy II; a daughter, Michaelae Patricia Abbott; granddaughter, Marisa Parker; and her sister, Ruth Lawrence. She will be missed for her kindness, generosity, wit, and laughter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society.
