Bobby Ray “Bob” Talley, of Lake Limestone, went to be with the Lord after his battle with cancer ended on Friday, April 27, 2012, at age 77. Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Lake Limestone Baptist Church, with Brother Johnny Layton officiating. Burial will follow in the Seale Round Prairie Cemetery. Bob was born in Wilson County on June 19, 1934, to Leslie Solomon Talley and Alma Pearl (King) Talley. He grew up near Nixon, and graduated from Nixon High School in 1953. He attended San Marcos State College for a year and then entered the U. S. Army. He was stationed in Germany while in the Army, and he also served in the Reserves through 1962. Bob was living in Houston after his discharge from the Army, where he met and was united in marriage with Yondalyn Gregg on January 29, 1960. They made their home in Houston, and he was employed by A.M.F. Tuboscope in the oilfield support services for thirty-one years. He traveled the world in his work, and although he “retired” in 1991, he continued to travel for the company as a contractor many times when needed, until a few years ago. Bob and Yonnie built a home at Lake Limestone and finally moved there full time after his retirement. He raised cattle for a number of years, and enjoyed the country and the lake. His cattle and dogs, and especially his family were his great pleasures in life. He was a member of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Director for many years. Mr. Talley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jerry Talley and James Talley; and sister, Louise Talley Knight. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Yondalyn Talley; daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Mark Schlaffer of Pinehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Mark Johnson of Spring; grandson, Brandon Schlaffer of Cebu, Phillipines; grandson, Brian Schlaffer of Camotes, Phillipines; granddaughter, Brandie Leigh Anderson of Tomball; grandson, Mitchel Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; granddaughter, Mirandia Johnson of Spring; granddaughter, Jessica Schlaffer of Pinehurst; great grandson, Christian John Schlaffer of Camote, Phillipines; and sister, LaJoy Landers of McKinney. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
