Sherman Lee Morgan, of Groesbeck, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, following an illness, at age 64. Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home, with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hutchinson, John Hutchinson, Chris Meredith, Gabe Gibson, John Russell, and Warren Anglin. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Meredith, Michael Williams, Rob Gibbons, Felipe Alfaro, Mike Little, and David Drummond. Lee was born July 8, 1947 to Leonard Sherman Morgan and Lola Lee (Nelson) Morgan in Woodruff County, Arkansas. He was baptized in the Catholic Church as a child, and he attended school in McCrory, AR. As an adult, he later moved to Texas. Lee met and married Jeri Ann Ruff in Waco, Texas on December 30, 1972. They made their home in Waco, where he was employed as a plumber at Texas State Technical College for twenty-nine years. The family moved to the Groesbeck area in 1984, and their two children, Mika and Mandy were Groesbeck Goats. Lee continued to work at TSTC in Waco, until he retired in 2005. Lee was a huge fan of all Groesbeck Goat sports and loved attending all sports activities possible. He also enjoyed deer hunting and hog hunting. Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Lee Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Morgan of Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Mika and Kolby Morgan of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Mandy Morgan-Anglin and Woodie Anglin of Groesbeck; and daughter, Kristy Camp Dean of Heber Springs, AR; grandson, Zack Morgan and granddaughters, Dani Morgan, and Alyssa Anglin of Groesbeck, and granddaughters, DeeAnna Camp and Lennon Camp of Heber Springs, AR; his father, Bud Morgan of McCrory, AR; and sister, Sissy Holder of McCrory, AR; sister-in-law, Cheri Gibbons and her husband Rob Gibbons of Waco; and sister-in-law, Nila Williams and her husband Michael of Groesbeck; sister-in-law, Ann Shapiro of Austin; many nieces and nephews; and “daughter-at-heart”, June Fewell of Groesbeck. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to Groesbeck Athletic Booster Club, or the charity of one’s choice.
