Harold Haywood Bumpurs of Groesbeck, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, following a short battle with cancer. He was 65. Visitation will be Friday, May 25, from 6:00-8:00PM at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Oletha Baptist Church, with Reverend Bill Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Bumpurs, Daniel Casares, Robert Bumpurs, Kyle Bumpurs, Tim Anderson, Colton Anderson, Thomas Grimes, and Brandon Grimes. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Keegan Desimone, Kaden Desimone, and David "Bubba" Brazelle. Harold was born at Seale on July 16, 1946 to Roman Edward Bumpurs and Mary Lou (McCowan) Bumpurs. Harold enlisted in the U. S. Army in December 1965, and served as 2nd. Lt. in Vietnam, until his discharge in 1969. Harold was united in marriage with Polly Hughes on December 4, 1965 in Franklin. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Tarleton State University. He worked as a Purchasing Manager for twenty-five years for Plantation Foods in Waco. He was currently working for James Bumpurs Construction in Marquez. He and Polly lived in Groesbeck or the immediate surrounding area all of their life. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Roman Edward Bumpurs, and his sister, Patricia Casares. He is survived by his wife Polly of Groesbeck; daughter, Kellye Nix of Groesbeck and future son-in-law, Jeremy Lindley of Laguna Park; mother, Mary Lou Bumpurs of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Bumpurs of Marquez; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and John Desimone of Bastrop; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Nikki Bumpurs of Porter; brother, David Bumpurs of Houston; and last but not least, "Baby" Bumpurs, his pet poodle.
