Jimmy Earl “Jim” Hejl, of Lake Limestone/Jewett, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at St. Catherine’s Center in Waco, following a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his family at his side. He was 72. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Michael Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Parker Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Price, Garrett Price, Steve Price, Tim Price, Tony Price, Chris Reynolds, Stuart Lenoir, and Phil Shaunfield. Jimmy was born January 20, 1940, to Joe and Mary Hejl in Rosenberg, Texas. He grew up in Rosenberg and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Lamar Consolidated High School. He attended the University of Texas, where he played football from 1958 through 1962 with the Longhorns, helping the Longhorns win the 1962 Cotton Bowl. Jim received his degree in business, and started his career with Houston Lighting and Power. He worked his way up in the utility company administration. He moved to Fairfield in 1980, where he was the District Manager. Jim was united in marriage with Teresa Price of Groesbeck, on March 26, 1993 in Las Vegas. They have made their home at Lake Limestone since 1994. Jim retired from the utility company in 2001, allowing him more time for the hunting and fishing that he had enjoyed since a young child. He also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren in "Papa’s Shop" for “quality time and candy.” He spent many hours snuggling with his beloved dog “Freckles.” Mr. Hejl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Hejl of Lake Limestone; sons, Michael Hejl of New Braunfels, Jason Trojacek and wife Mica of Groesbeck, Jeremy Trojacek and wife Amelia of Hutto; a daughter, Jana Bomersbacht and husband Joel of Houston; grandchildren, Samantha, Hunter, Janae, Parker, Kealey Jo, and Cooper; and a brother, Joddie Hejl and wife Nancy.
