John Allen Walton

John Allen Walton, of Groesbeck, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was 75. A Memorial service will be held by the family at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at New Hope Cemetery, with sons, Sam Walton and David Walton officiating. John, who was called Johnny by his family, was born July 5, 1937 to Curnie and Altha Walton in Groesbeck. The family moved numerous times while he was growing up. From his early adult years, he was a truck driver. He was united in marriage with Royce Jean Walton in 1955 in New Mexico. After many of life’s trials and moves, they remarried again in 1996 on their original wedding date. They made their home in Groesbeck the rest of their lives, until Royce Jean preceded John in death in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Elmer Walton and a half-brother, Curnie Lee Walton; his wife Royce Jean Lummus Walton; and a brother-in-law, Irl McCaffety. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David “Dave” and Audrey Walton of Thornton; son and daughter-in-law, John Samuel “Sam” and Brenda Walton of Thornton; Royce “Gene” Walton of Groesbeck; and Curtis Walton of Groesbeck; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Altha Pearl McCaffety of Ennis; sister-in-law, Ola Mae Webster of Groesbeck; and brother-in-law, Lucky Wade Lummus and wife Terri of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.
