Dorothy Lee Jordan, of Kosse, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 11, 2012. She passed away in Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia, at age 88. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the Garrett Cemetery in Jacksonville, where other members of her family are buried. Dorothy was born January 8, 1924 in Rusk to David Sosby and Alva (Gowins) Sosby. She graduated from high school in Rusk, and obtained a nursing degree from Henderson Junior College. Dorothy was a psychiatric nurse technician for forty years at the State Hospital in Rusk and later in Austin. She also worked another ten years at a doctor’s office in Austin. Dorothy married Wendell B. Jordan on July 30, 1965 in Austin. After she and Wendell both retired, they moved to his home town of Kosse, where they have lived the past twenty-two years. She was a Baptist. Dorothy loved to work at home in the yard and raise beautiful flowers. She loved dancing, especially in the Austin years, and really looked forward to monthly trips to Louisana to play the slot machines, as she was a “lucky lady.” However, the last fifteen years of her life were hampered with her loss of her eyesight, and that limited her ability to be out in public. She was a resident of Groesbeck LTC for the past six months. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Louise Blades and Verna Mae Sosby; and a brother, David “Junior” Alton Sosby. She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Wendell Jordan of Kosse; her daughter, Carol Marcus of Kosse; stepson and daughter-in-law, Billy Wayne and Linda Jordan of Houston; grandsons, Chad Marcus, Todd Marcus, and Eric Marcus of Kosse; great grandson, Aidan Marcus of Georgetown; great granddaughter, Erin Marcus of Corsicana; and 2 nephews and a niece.
