Betty Jo was born November 30, 1927 to Oliver Milton Stegall and Madye Rae (Marshall) Stegall at Franklin. She grew up and attended school in Franklin. Betty Jo was united in marriage with P. K. Thomas on July 4, 1943 in Jewett and had an incredible marriage of 65 years. They lived in Katy many years. After retiring, they moved back to Seale to P.K.’s homeplace where they built a home. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Marquez. Betty Jo and P.K. raised their children with strong Christian values and left a legacy through their example. They were a couple that held Biblical values and love for their country at the utmost and highest regard. Betty Jo was hardworking and lived out her life honoring God. P.K. and Betty Jo were very selfless and never put monetary values before others. Betty Jo believed in random acts of kindness such as taking friends to a doctor’s appointment and food to the homebound. “The Coffee Girls,” a very special group of friends, touched Betty’s life for many years. Along with these special friends, P.K. and Betty Jo were blessed with life-long friendships that will forever touch the family’s hearts. Betty Jo and P.K. were truly “one.” Their relationship was a treasure and blessing to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. There is no greater Christmas gift for her family than knowing she has finally been reunited with the love of her life and her Lord and Savior. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, P. K. Thomas on November 27, 2008; and a granddaughter, Mandi Drennan. She is survived by three children, Pete Thomas and wife Cathy of San Marcos, Dina Jordan of Katy, and Jodi Johnson and husband Bob of Katy; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. The family wishes to express great appreciation to her caretakers, Karlita, Alicia, Danielle and Debbie; the Amazing Grace Hospice of Katy; her granddaughter Sara and great grandson Larz for opening their home and hearts to caring for their grandma; and Ted and Joyce Horton in Seale for their devotion, love and friendship.
