Melba "Melanie" Romanenko

Melba Elnora "Freeman" Romanenko, known as Melanie or Mel, who lived in Waco, came into this world on July 14, 1939, the eighth child of Jesse Freeman and Dollie Robinson Freeman in Limestone County, Texas. She left this world on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Melanie "Mel" is survived by her husband, Peter Romanenko of Waco; two sons, Richard Harrison and Dale Dougherty of Waco; a grandchild; one stepson, Peter Romanenko, Jr. and wife Stacey of Dallas; one sister, Helyn Webb of Groesbeck; and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. Mel lived in Waco most of her adult life. She worked for Brothers Mgt. as an apartment manager in Waco. There will be visitation on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial in Old Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of cards and flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
