Services for Mary Clairese Lawson, 75, of Dallas, TX will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 31, 2012, at historic Fort Parker Memorial Park in Groesbeck, TX. She passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2012, at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. Born January 29, 1937, in Dallas County; she was a life-long resident of Dallas. Mary was dedicated to the church and served in God’s grace her entire life. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Garland, TX and an Eastern Star member. She was retired from Taylor Publishing Company. Mary loved music, especially blue grass, country, and gospel music. You could often hear her singing favorite songs as her husband played guitar at various musical venues around the Dallas metro area. She enjoyed children and was always doing something special for them. Mary was a very kind and generous person, always willing to help others. She had a special love of animals and had many pets during her lifetime. She loved to travel in the mountains, camping and fishing along the way, and taking grand road trips across the country with her husband. She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Laurie Stark Verbick, her father, Clarence Edgar Verbick, her sister, Laurie Anne May, and her husband of 48 years, Joe F. Lawson, all of Dallas. Survivors include her son, Thomas Michael Spikes and her daughter, Cynthia Marie Lawson Teel, both of Dallas; one grandson, John Timothy Lawson; one sister, Linda Catherine Rogers of Spring, TX; and one brother, Donald Lee Verbick of Medina, MN, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations from friends and relatives to be given in her memory to churches or charities of their choice.
