Richard Lynne Bennett, of Kosse, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at age 56. A Memorial service will be scheduled later, to be held at the First Baptist Church in Kosse. Richard was born on September 18, 1956 to L. J. Bennett and Mamie Nell Ross Bennett at San Benito. The family lived in several locations in Texas while he growing up and he had attended many different schools. He was born with an eye disease, Stargardtz, which progressed as he got older, although most people would not even realize his had difficulty in seeing. Richard made his living all his adult life as a carpenter, and even though he was legally blind, he overcame his handicap through his determination and hard work. He moved to Kosse, where his Dad was living, in 1985, and later met Carolyn Jean Falke there. They were united in marriage on November 8, 1993 in Temple, and made their home together in Kosse. They had celebrated nineteen years together this past November, and were non-denominational Christians. He and Carolyn took care of his Mother living them for five and one half years before her death (or rather she took care of them) and he missed her loving nature the rest of his life. Anyone who knew Richard felt lucky and blessed to have known him. He was never heard to say an ill word about anyone (except politics.) The family will truly miss him and can only aspire to carry on his good characteristics. Richard was an outdoors person, always outside fixing or cleaning up his property. He wanted to provide a nice home for his family. He dearly loved his grandbabies and they loved him. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie (Bennett) Greathouse in 2009; and his brother Donnie Bennett in 1993; his father-in-law, George Falke (2010) and sister-in-law, Joy Lynne Griffith Estrada (2010.) He is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Bennett of Kosse; daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Jeff Fling of Garwood; daughter, Melissa Wonser of Smithville; daughter and son-in-law, Nichole and Alvin Verm of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Natosha and Chris Hudson of Conroe; and son, Samuel and Kayla Garcie of Groesbeck; eight grandchildren, Allie Verm, Ashlyn Johns, Josh Miller, Brody Garcie, Pasleigh Garcie, Brayden Hudson, Jakob Supak, and Zan Supak; brother and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Carolyn L.
