Harry Eugene “Croppy” Lowenthal, of Groesbeck, passed away at his home, while surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 2, 2013, following a battle with cancer. He was 75. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., at the V.F.W. on Highway 14 in Mexia. Harry was born October 19, 1937, to Charles Milton Lowenthal and Mae Dean (Whisenhunt) Lowenthal, at Muse, Oklahoma. He grew up, since age 2, in Groesbeck, where he graduated in the Class of 1956. After graduation, he joined the National Guard and served through 1959. He lived in Houston, where he was employed with Cameron Iron Works. While on a trip to California, he met his future wife while visiting her barber shop. He was united in marriage with Judy Sakry in Las Vega, Nevada on October 23, 1982. They lived in Houston seven more years, and then moved to Groesbeck. He joined his father in his septic tank service and worked in that business the rest of his life. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, the Crippens. He is survived by his wife, Judy Lowenthal of Groesbeck; a son, David Lowenthal of Idaho; a son, Jeff Lowenthal of Houston; a son, Cody Lowenthal of Groesbeck; and a daughter, Michelle Ramirez of Groesbeck; six grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn Carr from East Texas.
