Homer Orville Strange, Jr., of Thornton, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at age 71. A Memorial for family and friends will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the gravesite of his late wife, Jean McClure Strange, in the Thornton Cemetery. Homer was born October 22, 1941 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He grew up in El Paso, and graduated from Austin High School in El Paso. He worked with his father in his dry-cleaning business in El Paso for about ten years. He met his wife, Jean McClure, and after they were married, they made a home in Houston for a number of years, and eventually resettled in El Paso until Jean passed away in 1994. Jean was buried in Thornton to be near her family, and that resulted in Homer deciding to relocate to Thornton, where he lived until his death. Homer was friendly and liked to talk with people he came in contact with, and loved to tell jokes. He was adopted by a stray cat who provided a lot of entertainment for Homer. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Homer O. Strange and Lillian A. Strange; his brother, Monte L. Strange; his sister, Martha Elaine Toelkes; and his wife, Jean McClure Strange. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Helen Strange and many nieces and nephews.
