Bonnie Marie McQuiston Hill, of Kosse, passed away at her home with her family present, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at age 63. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Kosse at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, with Rev. John Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Lloyd, Eddie Christiansen, Joe McKee, James Railsback, Wayne Heugatter, and John Wesley Lauderdale. Bonnie was born on June 27, 1949 to William Allen Lovell and Florence May (Garrison) Lovell in Melrose Park, Illinois. She grew up there and graduated from high school in the class of 1968. She took some college courses there and also later when she had moved to Temple, Texas. Bonnie worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Temple as an equipment specialist until her retirement in 2009. Bonnie was united in marriage with David Hill on May 10, 2006, on his farm at Alto Springs outside Kosse. Bonnie had always been an active person, on the job, at home, and with her church. She was very intelligent, creative and artistic. While she lived in Temple, she was actively involved in the First Christian Church with plays and other projects with both the young people and adults. When she moved to Kosse, she worked with the members of the First United Methodist Church, using her creativity to help with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed planting and tending flowers at her home in Kosse, painting and stenciling the walls at the old home of David’s parents, and she also became an “outdoor” person on the farm. She loved riding the Snapper all over the farm, painting fences, and poisoning mesquite, locust and cactus. Bonnie took great joy the last few years in planning a new home to be built on the farm. She planned every part of the house and furnishings in great detail, including accessible living space for her parents, who had moved from New Mexico to live with she and David. They had made many trips to Deming to move the parent’s accumulations from their years as “rock hounds.” Her parents later moved to Mississippi after Bonnie became ill. Even after Bonnie became ill and in a wheelchair, she made frequent trips to oversee the construction of the house. David, with the help of the contractor, moved her hospital bed into the new home on April 12, and she was able to spend almost a full month in the new home she had lovingly planned. Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother on February 17, 2013, and her sister-in-law, Mary Lovell on April 26, 2013. She is survived by her husband, David Hill of Kosse; son, Michael McQuiston and wife, Angie of Temple; daughter, Tracy Tarry and husband, Freedom of Galveston; seven grandchildren: Corey Ellerd, Cody Ellerd, Tyler Ellerd, Destiny Tarry, Hayden Tarry, Ashton McQuiston, and Vaughn McQuiston. She also leaves behind her father, Al Lovell of Grenada, Mississippi; brother, Aaron Lovell of Westmont, Illinois; brother, Dennis Lovell and wife Gale of Grenada, MS; brother-in-law, Virden Hill and wife Shirley of Kosse; sister-in-law, Carolyn Brown of Arlington; aunt, Pauline Gebo of Deming, New Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jim McQuiston and Sandy Fuller. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Ebenezer Cemetery, P. O. Box 112, Kosse, TX 76653.
