Larry James Popejoy, of Shiloh, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence, at age 56. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Hogan Cemetery, with Brother Larry Dickens of the Church of Christ of Shiloh officiating. Pallbearers will be Orlando Oviedo, Rick Terry, Dillan Terry, Charles Self, Bobby Jones, and H. G. Wilson. Larry was born June 6, 1957 to James and Nelda (Wilson) Popejoy in Fort Worth. While growing up, the family moved between several towns with his father’s work. He graduated from high school in Carrollton. Larry worked some in Dallas at a pharmacy, and more recently worked at Parkview Hospital in Mexia, until he became disabled with health problems. Larry was a caregiver for his mother in their home for several years. He was a beloved son and brother who will be missed by the family, including his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Shiloh. Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, James Popejoy. He is survived by his mother, Nelda Popejoy of Mexia; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bobby Jones of Groesbeck; four nieces; 1 great niece and 6 great nephews; and many cousins and extended family.
