Peggy Lou Jones, of Donie, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at Providence Hospital in Waco, with family at her side. Visitation will be Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Benny Mize of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield officiating. Burial will follow in Lost Prairie Cemetery. Peggy was born July 14, 1948 in Mexia to Charles and Alta Chappell. She was one of five children. Peggy married Billy Jones on November 11, 1963. They would have been married fifty years next month. Peggy struggled since the mid-eighties with poor health, including diabetes, kidney disease, kidney transplant, and arthritis, but few people were aware of it. She loved animals, especially her cat, Missy and Goober, her blue-healer. She loved watching Dr. Charles Stanley preach on television. She was a solid Christian and loved the Lord. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, C. J. Chappell and Willie Chappell; and two sisters, Oma Lee Paul and Helen Shinault. She is survived by her husband, Billy Jones of Donie; son and daughter-in-law, Chester and Tammy Jones of Donie; son, Doug Jones of Donie; grandchildren, Alta Vogel and husband Kris of Lewisville; grandson, Odis Jones of Flowood, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.
