Paul Franklin Gerick of Thornton, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, April 11, 2014, while doing the tinkering work that he so enjoyed. He was 69. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Johnny Layton of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in FORT PARKER MEMORIAL PARK at GROESBECK. Pallbearers will be R.C. Anderson, Tyler Rader, Travis Crowson, Cullen Copeland, Mike Wietzikoski, and Brad Truitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Dean, Bill Owens, Henry Davis, and all the little coffee drinkers at Lake Limestone. Paul was born in Cameron on February 13, 1945, to Louie L. Gerick and Mary (Kubacak) Gerick (who have both preceded him in death.) He grew up in Brazoria County and graduated from Angleton High School in the Class of 1962. Paul met his future wife, OraLee F. Brown, and they were wed a year later, on June 5, 1965, in Lake Jackson. He worked for Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Brazoria County until the family relocated to Limestone County in 1996, at which time he transferred to TDCJ in Teague. In 2006, Paul retired from TDCJ after twenty years. Paul spent his retirement time still busy piddling and fixing things, when he wasn’t busy with his grandchildren. Since some of the grandchildren lived nearby, he stayed pretty busy, working on their vehicles, or driving them, and helping them any other way he could. He was a member of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, OraLee Gerick of Thornton; daughters, Paula Broadway of Brazoria, Pamela Meadows of Clinton, Utah, and Tracy Lynn Anderson of Thornton; eight grandchildren: Katelynn and Kristian Meadows of Clinton, Utah, Bryce and Ben Broadway of Brazoria, and Shelby, Shannon, R.C. and Shayla Anderson of Thornton; and one brother, Louis Gerick of Lovelady.
