Wanda Doris Conner

March 1, 1933 — April 23, 2015

Wanda Doris Conner, of Bremond, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Bremond Nursing Home, at age 82. Visitation will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Union Cemetery (Freestone County), with Pastor Richard Gillett officiating. Doris was born March 1, 1933 to Baxter Lamar Priddy and Lulu Dovie Davis Priddy in Sulpher, OK. The family moved to Seymour while she was a young girl and she graduated from Seymore High School, with memories of her senior trip to New Orleans. Doris married Roy Conner on May 12, 1950, and they travelled most of their married life on his job with a seismograph crew. She especially liked the time they lived in Louisiana and she became a big fan of Cajun music. She loved music in general, was an Elvis fan, like polka and especially Cajun music. She also had a talent for drawing, and liked to draw anything Western. Doris and Roy owned Conner’s Western Wear in Mexia for some years in the seventies, and she really loved the store and the customers, and telling her jokes. She was big on jokes, and ready to tell them to anyone, especially her granddaughters. Later in life, she collected clippings to read the jokes and mail them to the granddaughters. She also saved the “funny papers” for them. Doris and Roy retired and moved to Bremond eleven years ago. They spent the summers working the gates at the lake in Georgetown, where again, she enjoyed the public and telling them her jokes. Roy passed away in 2012, and Doris lived in the Bremond Nursing Home the past two and one-half years, where she was a big Bingo winner and was still enjoying telling jokes to the other residents and staff. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glen Priddy; grandson, Wade Holder; and husband, Roy Conner. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Larry Solley of Bremond; granddaughters, Leanne Solley of Bremond, Krystle and husband William O’Daniel of Groesbeck, and Stacy Cobb of Bremond; grandson, Logan Solley of Bremond; three great grandsons: Logan Solley, Jr., Chance Solley, and Travis Solley (all of Freer); five great granddaughters: Mia Solley (of Freer), Hannah Childers (of Huntsville), and Landree Kramer, Christan Cobb, and Camryn Cobb(all of Bremond); and nephew, Ronnie Priddy (of Mansfield.)
