Maurine Whatley McGilvary passed away on May 4, 2015 in Fairfield, Texas. She had been a resident of Streetman for many years. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin, with Dr. Ken Pruitt officiating. There will be no visitation. Maurine was born on August 31, 1925 in Teague to J. C. and Gertrude Whatley. Maurine worked most of her life in retail sales, having owned shoe stores in the Dallas area for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Carr; her first husband, Bernard Goodman; and second husband, A. K. McGilvary. She is survived by her three granddaughters, Penelope (Christy) Leudtke and husband Layne of Oregon, Kaci McGilvary of Fairfield, Karyn Shaw and husband David of Dallas; three great grandchildren, Persephone (Peri) Chia and husband David, Emma Rose Sanders, and Andrew Jacob (Drew) Sanders, all of Oregon; and one great-great grandchild, Daniel Lewis “Tex” Chia of Oregon; and a step-son, Hoppy McGilvary and his wife, Patricia of Fairfield. She also leaves behind many relatives and close friends.
