Bennie Ruth Lenamond, of the Davis Prairie community near Groesbeck, passed away at home on Monday, October 26, 2015, at age 87. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 12:30 P.M. until beginning of funeral services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Bill Sutton of the Oletha Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Angela Shirley, Chris Shirley, Ron Jones, Erick Shaw, Jacob Shirley, Larry Lockwood and Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald Johnston, Kenneth Looney and Delilah Gardner. Bennie was born December 30, 1927 to Earl Ramey and Bulah (Pringle)Ramey in Lubbock County. She was united in marriage with Granville W. Lenamond on October 19, 1944 in Dallas. They made their home in Hutchins from 1953 for the next forty-six years. She was a housewife and a mother and also had a career for twenty years working for the Herman Marcus women's dress manufacturing company's "Mister Jacks" clothing line. She started working as a seamstress and became a supervisor. Bennie and Granville moved to Groesbeck thirty years ago. She was a member of the Baptist church all her life, and a member of the Oletha Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Granville Lenamond of Groesbeck; daughter, Glenda Shaw of Desoto; Sandra and Darwin Jones of Kaufman; and Jimmie and Donna Lenamond of Groesbeck; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
