Ora Bell Stone, of Jewett, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2009, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, at age 81. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 6, 2009, at Little Flock Baptist Church, with Reverend Tad Traylor and Reverend Bill Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Hammond, Bryce Stone, James Hammond, Justin Hammond, Kevin Jahn, and Duane Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Mason, Madison Mason, Holden Jahn, and Trent Martin. Ora Bell was born September 26, 1927, to James Carl and Lura Idell McDonald at Houston. She grew up in Houston, until the family moved to Farrar, where she attended school. She was united in marriage with Wilborn Oneal Stone on March 16, 1946 in Houston, and they lived most of their life in Leon County. After working more than twenty years at the Mexia State School, she retired in 1987. Ora Bell enjoyed spending her time sewing, crafting, and quilting, but she especially loved going shopping. She met monthly with friends in a club group in Jewett, and was an active member of the Little Flock Baptist Church. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Wilborn, who passed away in 1991. Also her daughter, Mozette Hammond and son-in-law Jimmie Hammond, and brother, James Carl McDonald passed away before Mrs. Stone. She is survived by a son, Harold Oneal Stone and wife Patty of Jewett; and daughter, Lucresia Ann Johnson and husband Tommy of Jewett; grandsons, James Kevin Hammond and wife Sharon of Jewett, Bryce Oneal Stone of College Station, and Duane Martin of Buffalo; granddaughters, Kimberly (Hammond) Mason of Jewett, and Jennifer (Stone) Jahn and husband Kevin of Pinehurst; and ten great grandchildren, James Hammond, Justin Hammond, Alexandria Mason, Tyler Mason, Madison Mason, McKenzie Jahn, Holden Jahn, Sarah Martin, Trent Martin and Haley Martin.
