William Rochell Marshall of Groesbeck, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, at age 90. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Cobb Cemetery, with his nephew, Barry Kasmiroski officiating. W. R. (Rochell) was born August 16, 1925 to J. H. Marshall, Sr. and Bula (Rochelle) Marshall in Groesbeck and lived in the rural area near Fort Parker. After high school, W.R. served in the U. S. Army during World War II, under General Patton. He served in France and Germany, and while in Germany, his unit participated in checking Hitler’s house and his “Eagles Nest.” W. R. (Rochell) was united in marriage with Peggy Sue Tony on May 26, 1946 in Groesbeck. Their made a home in Groesbeck, Mexia, Temple, and Fairfield while Rochell worked many years for Western Auto. He was manager of the store in Fairfield with Peggy working by his side. Later they moved back to Groesbeck, where he owned a grocery store for some years; also he worked part-time for Groesbeck Funeral Home; and even later in life, he and Peggy enjoyed visiting with the public while working at a video store in Groesbeck. His interests outside work included hunting and fishing. Rochell and Peggy were always seen together, a sweet couple, polite and friendly to everyone they met. Rochell lost his wife of 69 years in October and could not wait any longer to rejoin her. Rochell was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J. H. Marshall, Jr.; and three sisters, Louvene Black, Wilma Thompkins, and Mary Frazier. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janna and James Gunter, Sr. of Fairfield; grandson, James Gunter, Jr. of Fairfield; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kristi and Roger Chick of Tyler; great granddaughter, Sierra Schick of Tyler; step great grandsons, Zack Chick of New York and Montana Chick of Waco; sister-in-law, Barbara Kasmiroski; nephew, Barry Kasmiroski of Waco; niece, Karen Kasmiroski and husband Ray of Austin; and many other nieces and nephews and other extended family.
