Frances Margaret (Harris) Woodard, of Duncanville, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Avalon Residential Care Home in Arlington, at age 84. Visitation will be at the Groesbeck Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. for a brief period before departure for graveside services at Cobb Cemetery. The Graveside Services will begin at 11:00 A.M. at Cobb Cemetery, with Brother Richard Williams of the Church of Christ at Groesbeck officiating. Frances was born December 10, 1924, at Groesbeck, to Hubert Lee Harris and Lucy Lois (McLelland) Harris. She was united in marriage with George B. Woodard on October 4, 1946, and they lived in the Dallas and Duncanville area most of their life. They tended a large family peach orchard of 250 peach trees near Red Hill for a few years, which kept her busy gardening, cooking, canning and selling peaches. In Dallas, she worked and retired from the World Headquarters of the Army-Air Force Exchange. She was an active member of the Christian Women Fellowship Group of the Oakwoods Christian Church in Duncanville. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joe Dalton Harris and sister-in-law, Anita Harris. She is survived by her husband, George B. Woodard of Duncanville; three daughters, Karen G. Chapman of Garland, Janice L. Bozman and husband Butch of Jersey Village, and Donna J. Smith and husband Scott of Midlothian; and a son, David L. Woodard and wife Kelly of Midlothian. She has eight grandchildren, Shelley Bernhard and husband Brad of Dallas, Jenni Hickman and husband Will of Houston, Leslie James and husband Jason of Mesquite, Kelly Chapman of Richardson, Lindsay Woodard of Arlington, Seth Woodard of Fort Worth, Garett Smith of Midlothian, and Jessica Smith of Midlothian. There are also eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Jake, Emma, Sarah, Rachael, and Ryan. Also, Frances leaves behind her brother, James E. Harris and wife Claudis of Groesbeck, and 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
