Sonny Wayne Carpenter

Sonny Wayne Carpenter, of Brazoria, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015, in the Sweeny Community Hospital, at age 58. Visitation will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Bill Sutton (Oletha Baptist Church) and Reverend James Mills (Assembly of God Church in Lufkin) officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Buckalew, Phillip Carpenter, Aubrey Carpenter, Dustin Jones, Mike Sutton, Robert Sutton, and Bob Buckalew. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Carpenter and Ken Carpenter. Sonny was born August 14, 1957 in Freeport to Robbie Wayne Carpenter and Barbara (Sutton) Carpenter. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1975. Sonny worked with his Dad building houses. Due to failing health the past two years, he had been living with his mother in Brazoria. Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Robbie Carpenter in 2011 and his brother, Danny Carpenter in 1985. He is survived by his sons, Dustin and wife, Rachael Jones of Lake Jackson, Phillip and wife Misty Carpenter of Angleton, and Thomas Carpenter of Brazoria; and six grandchildren. Also he leaves behind his mother, Barbara Carpenter of Brazoria, his brother, Kenny Carpenter of Clear Lake, and his sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Bob Buckalew of Brazoria.
