Geraldine S. Day of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on April 14, 2009, at a Nursing Home in Knoxville, at the age of 98. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 17, 2009, at Faulkenberry Cemetery, with Reverend Ron Bellomy officiating. Mrs. Day was born in Groesbeck, Texas on June 6, 1910, to John Scott and Hattie (Boyd) Scott. She grew up and attended school in Groesbeck, and then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State Teacher’s College in Denton. She taught third grade in Groesbeck for several years, before moving to Angleton. There, she was the Brazoria County Home Demonstration Agent, until her retirement in 1975. While living in Angleton, she met and married Arthur L. Lee, who preceded her in death. Later, she met an old classmate, Charles H. Day, at their 60th. High School class reunion at Groesbeck. The next year they were reunited again when they were the Homecoming King and Queen. On January 5, 1992, Geraldine was united in marriage with Charles Day, when they were both age 82. They lived in the Woodlands, where they had three really good years together, until health problems prompted a move to Tennessee to be near her niece. Mr. Day preceded Geraldine in death and was buried in Mexia, Texas. Geraldine always loved the springtime Texas wildflowers, especially the Texas bluebonnets. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Angleton, later renewing her membership in the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck. Geraldine was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Boyd Scott, who are buried at Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck. She is survived by one niece, Geralee Washer and husband John, of Knoxville, Tennessee; five great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews.
