Arza Landon "Lanny" Lawrence

Arza Landon Lawrence, better known as Lanny, passed away unexpectedly at home, Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at age 67. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., at the Lost Prairie Baptist Church. Lanny was born January 6, 1942, to Edward Dennis Lawrence and Helen Joye Bayes Lawrence in Pasadena, TX. He grew up in Bayview, and went to Clear Creek High School, graduating in 1960. He was united in marriage with Letha Jeannine McGinnis on September 7, 1962, at her parent's home in Dickinson, TX. Lanny served his country in the U. S. Air Force, during the Vietnam Conflict, from January 3, 1963, until his retirement in May 1983. He was a Master Sergeant, and was stationed in Texas, Okinawa, Ohio, Thailand, Japan, Louisiana, The Azores, Oklahoma, and England. His family accompanied him everywhere but Okinawa and Thailand. Upon retirement, he and Jeannine settled in Buda, TX, working for Motorola for 19 years. When he retired again from Motorola, they moved to Lake Limestone in July of 2002. Lanny loved to work with wood, refinishing old pieces of furniture or restoring it. But his favorite past time was fishing and fellowship. He was a member of Lost Prairie Baptist Church, and belonged to the Buda Masonic Lodge #800 and Lodge #848 of Thornton. Lanny was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Edward Dennis Lawrence III. He is survived by his wife, Letha Jeannine Lawrence of Lake Limestone; by his son, Cullen Shayne Lawrence and wife Denise of Ovilla, TX; by his daughter, Lisa Clark and husband Eddie of Buda, TX; by grandchildren, Christopher Lawrence, Edward Clark, Joseph Clark, and Danielle Lawrence. Also surviving is his brother, Richard Lawrence and wife Sharon of League City, TX. Memorials may be made to any Aids Research Foundation, or Lost Prairie Baptist Church, FM 3371, Groesbeck, TX 76642.
