Ollie Faye Chambers of Kosse, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Windsor Healthcare Residence, at age 90. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, with Rev. Jack Wren of the First Baptist Church of Kosse officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy O’Neal, Mike Baldwin, Bobby Joe Suttle, Douglas Jackson, Carl Thompson, and Toby Morvant. Faye was born to Everett Thompson and Elma Brown Thompson on March 2, 1926 in Kosse, the third of seven children. She grew up on the family farm at Head’s Prairie outside Kosse and attended Harmony School and Kosse High School. Faye was baptized at age 13 in the pond behind the Ebenezer Church. She moved to Houston while a young lady, and married Bruce Chambers while living in Houston. They moved to Jasper, where they lived until Bruce passed away in 1980. Faye moved back to Kosse in 1983, and made her home there until moving into the nursing home. Faye not only loved cooking, but also loved flower gardening. She kept beautiful flower beds in Jasper, and won “Yard of the Month” in Kosse in 2008. Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kosse. Faye had a great love for her family, although she could be honestly outspoken if she chose. As her health became more serious, she was blessed with caring neighbors - Mike and Sandra Baldwin, and many others who visited, and watched out for her. Bobby Joe Suttle continued to care for her yard while she was in the nursing home. She was also blessed with nieces Marie Simon from Houston and Donna Guinn from Pasadena, who saw after her needs, with both being with her at the very last breath. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; her husband Bruce Chambers on July 4, 1980; and three brothers, Arnold Thompson, Curtis Thompson, and Leldon Thompson. She is survived by her sisters, Olene Bundy, Marie Kelly, and Mary Wright, all of Houston; a son, Gary Chambers and grandson, Brandon Chambers; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
