Billie Cleon “Sissy” Johnson passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Groesbeck LTC Nursing and Rehab Center, at age 81. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Johnson's six brothers will serve as pallbearers. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Johnny Layton officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Prairie Cemetery. Billie was born on September 13, 1927, to Bernard Parks and Maudie Ray (Fuqua) Parks at Silsbee. She grew up there, where she was known to her seven brothers and one sister as “Sissy”, and graduated from Silsbee High School. She married Ivy R. Johnson on May 31, 1952, at Woodville. His career with Texas Instruments, in the seismographic field, afforded them the opportunity to move and live throughout the United States and in Columbia, South America. After her husband’s death in 1984, she continued to reside in Oakdale, Louisana, where she enjoyed her own career as a commercial seamstress for about 15 years. She moved to Limestone County to live with her sister around 2002. She was a Baptist. Billie was preceded in death by parents, her husband, and her twin brother, Bobby Leon Parks. She is survived by one sister, Anita Parks Leonard of Thornton; six brothers, Archie Parks and wife Jimmie of Groesbeck, Sidney Parks of Silsbee, Lester Parks of Silsbee, Joe Parks and wife Frances of Silsbee, Rueben Parks and wife Judy of Dayton, and Charlie Parks and wife Sonya of Kingwood; and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
