Johnnie Dewel Kent

Johnnie Dewel Kent, of Groesbeck, passed away at his residence on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at age 80. Visitation will held 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Billy Ridge officiating. Burial will follow at Cox Cemetery. Mr. Kent was born on February 23, 1929 to Robert Lee and Grace (Abernathy) Kent in Willow Creek, Robertson County, Texas. He married Genell Henderson on May 19, 1947 in Groesbeck. He completed his G.E.D. on his 50th birthday. Mr. Kent retired from Limestone County on May 13, 1991. Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Grace Kent; brothers Roland and Fred Kent; sisters Beatrice Shockley and Mae Pritchett. He is survived by his wife Genell of Groesbeck; daughter Sherry Skinner and husband Mike of Mesquite, TX; two sons, Mike Kent and wife Dee of Mesquite, TX, Johnny Kent of Groesbeck, TX; four grandchildren Ami Courville and husband Craig of Round Rock, TX, Jeremy Skinner and wife Stacey of Greenville, TX, Korey Kent of Mesquite, TX, Tichia Barrow and husband Lance of Sand Springs, OK; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Noa Skinner of Greenville, TX; brother Norris Kent and wife Karen of Mesquite, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.
