Gerald Alford Wilson, passed away at his home in Groesbeck on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at age 76. Gerald was born October 15, 1940 in Groesbeck to Willie Washington Wilson and Iris Christine Stevens Wilson. Gerald served in the U. S. Navy, serving three years in Vietnam. Gerald was married to Carole Ann Ballon and their family included a son and daughter. The family lived in many different places during his work career in construction and welding in iron-working, with many jobs through Brown and Root; as a truck driver; and a jack-of-all trades. He retired in Groesbeck around 2001. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time in his Choctow Indian heritage at dancing ceremonies and Pow-Wows. He was basically a simple-living man and beloved by his family. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Ann Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Carole Ann Wilson of Groesbeck; a son, Jerry M. Wilson of Groesbeck; daughter, Melissa D. Wilson-Hartzell of Austin; granddaughters, Lindsey and Lauron Hartzell; and a brother, Willie D. Wilson of Houston.
