Deretha Welch of Thornton/Lake Limestone passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Limestone Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, 6-8PM December 11, 2016 at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday morning at 11 AM December 12, 2016 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Parker Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Rick Welch of Thornton; daughter Leslie Welch of Thornton; son, Justin Welch and wife Hayley of Wortham; parents, J.W. and Leyovis Shields of Thornton; brother, Steve Shields and wife Rose of Magnolia; sister, Celinda Sackett and husband Greg of Groesbeck; brothers-in-law, Arthur Welch of Groesbeck, James Freeman of Thornton; sister-in-law, Debbie Vincent of Sequin; grandchildren, Breanna Welch, Shiloh Wingo and Harrisyn Welch and 16 nieces and nephews and other extended family.
